How do I Stay In-the-Know?

  • If you're not already in the habit of doing so, start checking The Happenings, our weekly printed bulletin, for weekly announcement updates.
  • We have a Downtown Youth Group Facebook page which is a closed group. If you're getting involved at Downtown ask to to join!
  • We have a Remind.com "class" for the Youth Group. Our individual CORE Groups also have Remind classes.

How do I sign up for an event?

If ever you want to sign up for an event, don't look for a sign up list. Just pay by the deadline.

You can pay online for an event through Church Center (member access only).

Or pay in person:

  • Put cash or a check to Downtown (with the event on the memo) in an envelope with the participants name, the event, and the amount written on the outside.
  • Put the envelope in the drop-box right inside the Teen Center door (The Teen Center is the youth group's biggest classroom upstairs with the lights and stage) or under the office door of a youth minister. There are envelopes right at all of those locations.
  • Please don't hand us cash or checks directly.

If having money by a deadline is ever a problem, please just talk to us before the deadline. We can work out extensions or scholarships if we know ahead of time. We don't want a financial shortfall to keep anyone from participating.

*We will also want to have current information and release forms filled out.

How do classes work?

Our usual class times are Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. and Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. Most classes begin with all of us meeting in the Teen Center for announcements and prayer and then heading off to individual classes. During the school year, we typically divide up Jr High (7th-8th grades) and High School (9th-12th grades) on Sunday mornings. On Wednesday nights we meet in CORE Groups. The Jr High usually meets as a single group while the high school meets in smaller, gender specific groups led by 3-4 committed adult volunteers. During the summer, we usually meet as a whole youth group (7th-12th grades).

What do classes cover?

Our classes cover a wide range topics from textual surveys and studies to topics specific to this stage of development. For a more detailed view, please see our Scope & Sequence. Our Scope & Sequence is subject to adjustment. Please contact one of our youth ministers to learn what subjects we are currently studying.
